Apex Legends allowed a particularly effective way to move and fight until the last update with TAP punishment. But since this was just on the PC, is now finish. That makes the console gamers, but PC players do not find it so plump. Read the whole story here on Meinmmo.
What has changed in Apex Legends? The upcoming patch 10.1 brings a sensitive change to the gameplay of Apex Legends. The TAP Pefrace implemented so far is eliminated. From patch 10.1 you can not do it on the PC - where this is possible - no more erroneous jump maneuvers.
But what is this TAP punishment actually? To understand this, here is a small excursion on the topic of bunny hopping and punishment jumping, which underlies this technique.
Bunny hopping, punishment jumping and tap puncture? What is that supposed to be?
What is Bunny Hopping? Tap Pecibility is a further development of the infamous bunny hopping. Bunny hopping means that you jump at the right moment during a forward movement and thus hops in a steadily hopping shape through the map. If bunny hopping is used properly, you will not lose a speed and steadily shifts your hitboxes, which makes targeted hits heavily difficult.
What is punishment jumping? The advanced technique from Bunny hopping is punishment jumping. This means that you can move to you as a diagonally during the trip, which makes you even more agile.
What is Tap Funning? As a king's discipline, there is still playing with the Source Engine (CS: Go, Team Fortress, Left 4 Dead) still mentioned here called Tap Pefeshage. The TAP Pefrace is based on punishment jumping and uses a peculiarity of the underlying source engine.
The Source Engine (Apex Legends uses a modified form thereof always checks when the button is pressed forward, the direction and the movement. So if you tap forward while you look in the middle of jump in another direction, you can still change the direction of movement in the air.
Professionals simply repeat the BunnyHopping trick and bind the forward movement to the scroll wheel. This allows wild actions in which you radically change the direction in the jump and thus allows for unpredicted shot angles and evasive maneuvers.
The technique is not easy to master and requires good timing, but whoever has it can take off spectacular stunts.
How this looks in action is briefly explained here in the video:
PC professionals rain on, console players find it good
Why is the TAP cruciegation removed? While Tap puncture was not a problem for a long time and especially of top players was used, there is a specific problem: you can only use the necessary movements with a keyboard and mouse carry out. And that's usually only on the PC.
This in turn excludes console player that can not perform this effective motion technology on the controller. Apex Legends has been supporting XBOX, PlayStation and Switch since the end of 2020, so all platforms where Tap punishment does not work and that would be even more disadvantageous over the PC.
Therefore, the feature is now disabled with the upcoming patch 10.1. The grounds of the developers: It is difficult to access, it could be difficult to see and counter it and will be reinforced by further movement abilities in the game. This is probably meant the speed boost of heroes like Octane.
How do players react? As the technique of TAP penalacy was popular with top players, these often do not find good words on the decision of the devs:
* Nokokopuffs (Via Twitter): The torn decision of all time!
* Dyrus (via Twitter): Apex Legends was already killed by his own Devs!
* Courage (Via Twitter): Damn, that's just crazy ...
User Nicewigg (via Twitter) looks a thing that Tap punishment had been too simple over the mouse wheel, but then you would just have to delete this special option and the technology can be left in the game.
Other players in turn praise the decision of the DEVs:
- FUXS (via Twitter): Thank you, Tap Funding was Super Op against us controller players, thank you for taking that out of the game, I love the change and look forward to the future !!!
- Leonblade (via Twitter): I would like to see how many people who complain about it at all Tap punishment ... How many of you can do that, although I never see someone in my lobbies who actually see it power? Remember how big the player's base is. I'm glad it's gone (I play on mouse and keyboard).
- Cloverzy (via Twitter): That does not matter to me. But if you move the Movement Nerft, then Nerft the AIM assist [on the consoles].
So much to the opinions from the community. What is your opinion about the TAP punishment? Is Apex Legends thus lost a unique feature or doing such inequalities have to be eliminated to enable fair crossSplay? Let us know in the comments here.
